Designed by John Trudeau and Python Anghelo, code by Brian Eddy — Williams' sequel to 1986's Pin·Bot, ~8,100 units produced. The last Williams title with a segmented (non-DMD) score display. There is only one hardware edition; the sole variant is a 2014 third-party Dutch Pinball "2.0" ROM conversion on identical hardware, not covered here.

The core engine: the Shuttle Ramp and the rotating Face

The whole game is built around one progressive objective rather than modern named "modes." The Shuttle Ramp feeds a robot head unit whose face physically rotates through four states. Shooting the ramp when it's unlit just diverts the ball into the Pin·Bot mini-playfield (a repeating 100K-600K scoring ladder that lights an Extra Ball every 7th entry) and returns it to the plunger. Shooting it when lit advances the Face:

Multiball and Metamorphosis

All scoring doubles during multiball (except Big Wheel awards, Jackpot, and Power Charge). The Face keeps progressing through multiball via more Shuttle Ramp shots, which now lock balls:

The Big Wheel has six outcomes (10M / 50M / Special / 5M / 1M / Lights 1 Billion) — Billion must be collected via the Heartbeat Ramp within 12 seconds or it's lost. During multiball, shooting the Left Lane builds Power Charge (100K per shot, capped at 1M, not doubled).

Loops, ramps, and combos

The Left Loop, Right Loop, and Heartbeat Ramp each carry their own escalating shot values (25K→500K for the loops, 100K→1M for the ramp) and all three feed one shared combo counter: any 4 loop/ramp shots within roughly 3-4 seconds of each other score a 4-combo (500,000 pts), and every shot beyond that (5 through 9) is worth a flat 1,000,000. A 10-combo scores the secret "Backdoor Billion" — an alternate route to a billion points entirely outside the Big Wheel, though it's exceptionally hard (on the order of 49+ consecutive shots without a drain) and still counts against the game's Billionaire's Club award cap. The Left Loop additionally lights an Extra Ball at its 500K tier; the Right Loop contributes toward lighting Jackpot (4 shots) and auto-advances the bonus multiplier on every exit pass.

Jackpot, Small Wheel, Jets, and the standups

Jackpot (1M-8M, built mainly from Jets hits) is lit by a Small Wheel "Light Jackpot" award or four Right Loop shots, then must be collected via the Left Lane within 20 seconds. The Small Wheel (spun via the Left Lane, outside multiball, when Jackpot isn't lit) awards one of six prizes including Extra Ball. Jets pay a flat 10K/hit but roughly 50 hits advance a separate tier-award ladder. Three standup targets (one left, two right) advance the bonus multiplier when all three are completed.

Multipliers

The skill-shot multiplier increases +1x every time the ball returns to the plunger lane (Pin·Bot return, a released lock, a new extra ball). It persists within a ball — including any extra balls played on that same ball-in-play — and resets to 1x only at the true start of each new ball; it can run into the high teens or 20s+ within a long ball. The bonus multiplier climbs via the standup targets and free Right Loop advances, and is applied to the end-of-ball bonus (base = loop shots that ball × 10,000).

Extra balls and wizard-level scoring

Extra balls come from the Left Loop (4x quick shots), the Small Wheel, every 7th Pin·Bot entry, and a mercy "WIMP" award for a struggling game; a practical stacking cap sits around 4 EBs. There's no formal named wizard mode in the original ROM — instead there are two independent routes to a billion points: the Big Wheel Billion (full Face 1→4 double-lock progression, then a lucky wheel spin collected on the Heartbeat Ramp) and the Backdoor Billion (a 10-loop combo chain). Both post to a separate ~19-20 slot Billionaire's Club high-score table.

Strategy in one line

Take the skill shot every ball, rush the Shuttle Ramp to reach multiball fast, farm the Left Loop for Extra Ball insurance, then park on the Heartbeat Ramp during multiball for safe, doubled, repeatable points — and avoid the Small Wheel lane and cold Right Loop shots — both are low-value drain risks.
