Deadpool
Stern Pinball, 2018 — shot-by-shot rules and strategy guide.
Open Deadpool in the Pinball Genie app →Designer: George Gomez. A two-flipper Marvel game built around Battles, Quests, six Multiballs, and a deep combo/weapon economy. Rules are essentially identical across Pro/Premium/LE; the only rules-affecting edition difference is the Premium/LE Disco Loops variant of Disco Multiball.
Core loops
- Battles (start at the Scoop): Juggernaut, Mystique, Sabretooth. Complete D-E-A-D standups to light a Battle, taunt/damage via flashing shots, then finish at the Scoop within 10s (Final Shot ≈ remaining health, up to ~30M). Sabretooth is easiest (orbits + Wolverine spinner + pops); Juggernaut is most valuable but needs the risky side targets.
- Quests: T-Rex (advance the chimichanga truck via Right Orbit, throw 5 bombs at the Lil' Deadpool target) then Megalodon (hit the roving red shot 5×). Both collect a Mode Jackpot at the Scoop.
- Team-Ups (X-Force): hit a Team-Up shot twice to recruit, then re-hit it during a Battle to trigger — Dazzler (left orbit, +health/time), Colossus (U-Turn, 2× points), Wolverine (center spinner, 2× damage), Domino (right orbit, boosts villain feature).
Multiballs (six)
- Lil' Deadpool MB — drop the OOF 3-bank, hit the Lil' Deadpool standup 2×, lock a ball. Cheap "stacking fuel."
- Ninja MB — lock 3 balls at the Katana ramp (relight locks via P-O-O-L). Jackpots scale with collected Ninja Stars, so players hoard stars and delay it.
- Disco MB — ~60–70 spins of the left (Dazzler) spinner; starts only when no other mode runs. (Premium/LE: odd thresholds give Disco Loops instead.)
- Mechsuit MB — cash out 45 weapons, start at the Scoop.
- Sauron MB (mini-wizard) — win all 3 Level-1 Battles; unlocks Level-2 Battles.
- Clone MB (mini-wizard #2) — win all 3 Level-2 Battles.
Weapons, Ninja Stars, Chimichangas, BOOM
- Weapons: shoot white combo shots, then the Scoop to cash out (value scales with shots before the scoop). 25→Extra Ball, 45/150/250→Mechsuit MB, every 100→permanent +1 Playfield X.
- Ninja Stars: pop-bumper hits light shots blue; collect them to inflate Ninja MB jackpots. Ninjapocalypse (Right Orbit → Katana ramp) dumps ~10 stars at once.
- BOOM button: spell BOOM at the return/inlanes; flashing button spots the highest lit shot. Complete BOOM 4× without using it for "Big Boom" (all lit shots).
Multipliers
- Playfield X (1x→5x): temporary via SNIKT standup → Katana ramp ricochet; permanent +1x per 100 weapons; +1x for the ball from Lil' Deadpool Bounce. Higher temp X times out faster — spike it right before a scoring window.
- Bonus Multiplier: raised by completing the top BAM! lanes (resets per ball).
Skill shots (4 tiers)
Lane (BAM lane, 2.5M+), Super (hold left flipper → Katana ramp, 5M+), MXV (right orbit → ramp combo, 12.5M+), Super Secret (SNIKT → ramp, 15M + 1 Playfield X).
Wizard path
Two tracks converge: Quests + Sauron MB → Megakrakolodonus Rex (mini-wizard #1) and Level-2 Battles → Clone MB (mini-wizard #2). Completing both mini-wizards plus Mechsuit MB lights The Final Battle (Mr. Sinister) — the game's wizard mode.
How Deadpool plays
Deadpool is a fast, combo-hungry Stern about picking fights and stacking multipliers behind a wisecracking merc. Recruit Team-Up allies, win the villain Battles, and climb three mini-wizards to reach The Final Battle.
The loop
- Spell B-O-O-M across the return lanes, tapping a flipper to slide the lit lane toward the incoming ball, to arm the lockbar button for a free hit on your best lit shot.
- Finish the D-E-A-D targets to open a Battle at the center Scoop, recruit the Team-Up allies you want first, then start and end the villain there.
- Chain the major shots to light weapons, cash them at the Scoop for permanent Playfield X, and spike a temporary one with the SNIKT into the Katana ramp right before a big shot.
- Farm Ninja Stars off pop-lit blue shots and the right-orbit-into-Katana combo, then lock three balls at the Katana ramp for a fattened Ninja Multiball.
- Clear Sauron, then the Clone and giant-dinosaur mini-wizards, and play Mechsuit Multiball to qualify The Final Battle.
Reading the lights
- B-O-O-M Return Lanes (lanes) — lit: The four return lanes spell B-O-O-M, and a lit lane is a letter you still need to finish the word. · then: Spell B-O-O-M and the lockbar button starts flashing with a free shot on it - one press takes the highest-value lit shot on the playfield, the Scoop aside. Bank a fourth BOOM and the button turns red for a Big Boom that collects every lit shot at once. · control: Either flipper button: tap a flipper button to slide the lit B-O-O-M lane across the inlanes and outlanes toward whichever return the ball is dropping into (as the ball comes back down toward the lanes)
- BAM Top Lanes (lanes) — lit: One of the four top lanes shows a flashing BAM insert at any moment, and rolling the ball through the lit lane banks it toward the finished word. · flashing: The flashing insert marks the lane you have not yet rolled through. · then: Off the plunge, steering the insert and soft-plunging through it is the safe Lane Skill Shot, worth 2.5M plus a 250K bump that grows all game. Completing all four lanes raises the Bonus Multiplier, which resets every ball, so redo it each ball. · control: Either flipper button: tap a flipper button to move the flashing BAM insert to the lane you want, and off the plunge your pick is set the moment the ball trips the shooter-lane sensor (before you launch, and as the ball crosses the top lanes)
- Villain Battles (mode) — lit: Completing the D-E-A-D targets lights a Battle at the Scoop, the Scoop also hands you one free Battle at the start of every ball, and only one Battle runs at a time. · then: Bank your Team-Up allies first, then start the villain at the Scoop, damage him on the lit shots, and take the Final Shot back at the Scoop within the closing window. Sabretooth is the gentle warm-up, while Juggernaut is the biggest and most dangerous fight on the machine.
- Team-Up Allies (status) — lit: Four shots light for X-Men allies - Dazzler at the left orbit, Colossus at the U-Turn, Wolverine at the center spinner, Domino at the right orbit - and banking one carries its perk into your next fight. · then: Pick the ally that fits the plan - Dazzler adds health, Wolverine doubles damage - and bring it in before you start a Battle to turn a grind into a rout. These same four shots are Phase 1 of The Final Battle.
- Weapons and Playfield X (multiplier) — lit: Chaining the major shots lights weapon inserts for a few seconds, while Playfield X runs from 1x up to 5x on top of them. · then: Feed your weapon strings into the Scoop to bank permanent Playfield X - each hundred weapons adds another multiplier for the rest of the game - and a running tally of forty-five earns Mechsuit Multiball. Just before a big scoring window, ricochet the SNIKT standup into the Katana ramp to spike a temporary multiplier, then pour jackpots under it.
- Ninja Multiball (mode) — lit: Completing P-O-O-L lights a lock at the Katana ramp handle, and the locks are lit by default when the game begins. · flashing: During the multiball the Katana ramp flashes for the Super Jackpot once you have collected the round's jackpots. · then: Hoard Ninja Stars first - the right-orbit-into-Katana Ninjapocalypse dumps about ten at once - because jackpots scale with your banked star count, so a delayed start pays far more. Lock three balls, then keep returning to the Katana ramp to bank each Super Jackpot.
- Lil' Deadpool Multiball (mode) — lit: Knocking down the OOF drop targets exposes the Lil' Deadpool standup, whose insert glows greener as you close in on the lock. · then: Hit the exposed standup to lock a ball behind the drops and start a cheap two-ball multiball with hurry-up jackpots. Start a Battle first and launch this over it, and its ball save carries you through the riskiest fights.
Lane change: the flipper buttons move the lit lane. Tap a flipper button to slide the lit B-O-O-M lane across the inlanes and outlanes toward the return the ball is dropping into, and roll through to bank that letter. Spell B-O-O-M and the lockbar button flashes with a free hit on the best lit shot; the top BAM lanes work the same way for the skill shot and Bonus Multiplier.
Start scoring
- Ball one — Steer a BAM insert and soft-plunge through it for the safe Lane Skill Shot, grab the easy Dazzler Team-Up off the left orbit, then finish D-E-A-D and take on Sabretooth with forgiving orbit, spinner, and pop-bumper damage. Cycle the B-O-O-M lanes as the ball returns so the button is armed as a ball save. — Lane Skill Shot (BAM! lanes), Strategy: Safe beginner opener, Battle: Sabretooth, Recruiting Team-Up Allies
- Building — Bank a durable Playfield X off early weapon cash-outs, hoard Ninja Stars and hold Ninja Multiball back until the pot is fat, and start Juggernaut before launching Lil' Deadpool Multiball over it for a ball save. The right Team-Ups make every fight shorter and worth more. — Playfield X (SNIKT! multiplier build), Strategy: Hoard Ninja Stars, delay Ninja MB, Battle: Juggernaut, Lil' Deadpool Multiball
- The big one — Clear the mini-wizards - Sauron first, then the Clone and giant-dinosaur showdowns - and play Mechsuit Multiball to qualify The Final Battle, the wizard duel with Sinister himself. Finishing it is what lights the Special. — The Final Battle (Mr. Sinister wizard mode), Sauron Multiball (mini-wizard gate), Clone Multiball (second mini-wizard), Giant-Dinosaur Mini-Wizard (Quest chain payoff)
The BOOM Button on Deadpool
Center of the lockdown bar.
Deadpool's lockdown bar button is the BOOM button. Spell B-O-O-M in the return lanes — the flippers slide the lit lane toward wherever the ball is coming back — and the button starts flashing with a free shot waiting on it. One press takes the most valuable lit shot on the playfield, the scoop excepted.
- Button flashing during a Battle: Collects the highest-value lit shot; with nothing lit or all values tied it takes the leftmost one.
- Mystique nearly finished off: Ends her after a strong spinner rip when the last hit is too risky to shoot for.
- Sauron Multiball just started: Grabs one of the opening four jackpots without you shooting a ramp.
- Four BOOMs banked, button red: Big Boom collects every lit shot at once; hold the button instead to spend a single ordinary BOOM.
- During Berserker Rage: Pays the Berserker BOOM value on top of the spotted shot, and 4x that value on a Super BOOM.
Goals in Deadpool
Every goal below is tracked step-by-step, with shot paths drawn on the playfield map, inside the app.
-
The safe, repeatable skill shot: steer the flashing BAM! insert to a top lane, then soft-plunge through it. Worth 2.5M plus an escalating 250K per skill shot that persists all game, so bank it every ball.
Reward: 2.5M + 250K per skill shot (persists across balls)
-
Super Secret Skill Shot (SNIKT! → Katana ramp)
The highest-value plunge. Hold the left flipper and thread SNIKT! into the Katana ramp off the launch for a huge award plus a free playfield multiplier to open the ball.
Reward: 15M + 1M per skill shot + 1 Playfield X
-
Ninjapocalypse (Right Orbit → Katana ramp)
The signature money combo: the ball comes around the right orbit and is fired straight up the Katana ramp. Dumps a large batch of Ninja Stars that directly inflate Ninja Multiball jackpots — the single most-farmed two-shot pattern.
Reward: Big points + ~10 Ninja Stars (5M+/500K per combo); off the plunge this is the MXV Skill Shot
-
SNIKT! ricochet → Katana ramp (Playfield X combo)
Bank the SNIKT! standup into the Katana ramp during play to add temporary Playfield X and extend the multiplier timer. The core way to spike a multiplier right before a big scoring window.
Reward: Temporary Playfield X boost + timer extension
-
Run a string of white weapon shots (ramps/orbits/spinner) to bank weapons, then drop the Scoop to cash out — the award scales with how many shots you made right before the scoop. This engine drives to Mechsuit MB and permanent multipliers.
Reward: Weapons banked (25 = Extra Ball, 45 = Mechsuit MB, every 100 = +1 Playfield X)
-
Colossal Jackpot (U-Turn loop)
Feed the U-Turn mini-loop under the left ramp to qualify the Colossal Jackpot; switch hits anywhere grow its value, and it is collected at the end-of-loop target — a strong shot that reaches the target doubles it, and any active Playfield X multiplies it again.
Reward: Colossal Jackpot, multipliable by Playfield X
-
Basic combo chain (light weapons)
The foundational combo: hit two different major shots consecutively within the ~5s window. Any loop or ramp lights weapon inserts on the other shots — learning this geometry is the backbone of the whole game.
Reward: A weapon per successive combo shot
-
The cheap, controllable multiball used as stacking fuel. Knock down the OOF drops, hit the exposed Lil' Deadpool standup, and lock a ball behind the drops to start.
Reward: 2-ball multiball; hurry-up jackpots (from 500K) collected at the Lil' Deadpool target
-
Ninja Multiball (Katana locks)
The value engine. Relight locks by completing P-O-O-L, lock three balls at the Katana ramp, and start. Jackpots scale with your banked Ninja Star count, so hoard stars and delay the start to fatten the pot.
Reward: 3-ball multiball; jackpots scale with Ninja Stars, Super Jackpot = sum of jackpots at the Katana ramp
-
Disco Multiball (Dazzler spinner)
Spin the left (Dazzler) spinner ~60–70 times to qualify; it can only start when no other mode is running. Shoot lit shots for Disco Jackpots, with the Left Ramp collecting the Super Jackpot.
Reward: 2-ball multiball; Super Jackpot at the Left Ramp (Premium/LE odd thresholds give Disco Loops instead)
-
Mechsuit Multiball (weapon cash-outs)
A big 4-ball mode earned by cashing out 45 total weapons, then started at the Scoop while no other mode runs. All shots light for jackpots from 5M with a Super Jackpot at the Scoop.
Reward: 4-ball multiball; jackpots from 5M, Super Jackpot = 15M + 250K x jackpots collected
-
The easiest, lowest-risk Battle and the go-to first fight. Complete D-E-A-D to light it, start at the Scoop, then damage him with the two orbits, the center Wolverine spinner, and even pop-bumper hits before finishing at the Scoop.
Reward: Final Shot ~ remaining health (up to ~30M) at the Scoop
-
A spinner-and-ramps Battle. Shoot the center Wolverine spinner then both ramps to light all three shots for damage; the Wolverine Team-Up (double damage) makes spins count double and can finish her fast when paired with a BOOM bomb.
Reward: Final Shot ~ remaining health at the Scoop
-
The most valuable and most dangerous Battle. Hit any four D-E-A-D / P-O-O-L targets to taunt him and light all main shots for 20 seconds of damage; players stack Lil' Deadpool MB over it for a ball-save on the risky side targets.
Reward: Highest single-Battle Final Shot at the Scoop
-
Advance the chimichanga truck via the Right Orbit to qualify, start at the Scoop, then shoot green shots to drop the Lil' Deadpool drops and bash the standup to throw bombs at the T-Rex. Throw 5 bombs, then collect the Mode Jackpot at the Scoop.
Reward: T-Rex tooth/DNA Mode Jackpot at the Scoop (part of the wizard path)
-
Playfield X (SNIKT! multiplier build)
Playfield X runs 1x up to 5x. Build a permanent base off weapons (every 100 = +1x for the game), then spike temporary X with the SNIKT! → Katana ramp ricochet right before a big scoring window since higher temp X times out faster.
Reward: Up to 5x scoring during a scoring window
-
Completing the top BAM! lanes raises the Bonus Multiplier, which multiplies your end-of-ball bonus (chimichangas + Ninja Stars + weapons). The multiplier resets each ball, so re-complete the lanes every ball.
Reward: +1 Bonus Multiplier per completion
-
Sauron Multiball (mini-wizard gate)
The first progression gate: win all three Level-1 Battles, then start at the Scoop. Shoot both ramps twice each for jackpots, then the U-Turn to the Colossal Jackpot target for the Super Jackpot. Finishing it unlocks the Level-2 Battles.
Reward: 3-ball mini-wizard multiball; unlocks Level-2 Battles
-
The Final Battle (Mr. Sinister wizard mode)
The game's wizard mode, qualified by completing both mini-wizards (Megakrakolodonus Rex + Clone MB) AND playing Mechsuit MB. Phase 1 makes all four Team-Up shots; Phase 2 is a timed multiball of blue-shot jackpots that ends when the clock runs out.
Reward: Wizard mode; lights the Special on completion
-
Strategy: Safe beginner opener
A low-risk opening sequence: bank the lane skill shot, grab the easiest Team-Up (Dazzler), then complete D-E-A-D and fight Sabretooth using forgiving orbit/spinner/pop damage while cycling BOOM! for the ball-save.
Reward: Steady points, an early Team-Up, and a ball-save net
-
Strategy: Tournament scoring opener
A high-value opener: Super Secret skill shot for an instant multiplier, grab Dazzler and Wolverine, then start Juggernaut FIRST and stack Lil' Deadpool MB over it for a ball-save while team-ups multiply the kill.
Reward: Big opening score, stacked multiball ball-save over the riskiest Battle
-
Strategy: Hoard Ninja Stars, delay Ninja MB
The core high-score engine. Farm Ninja Stars from pop-lit blue shots and Ninjapocalypse combos, delay Ninja Multiball until the pot is fat, then start it with a fresh temporary Playfield X spiked for multiplied jackpots.
Reward: Maximally inflated Ninja MB jackpots (scale with banked stars)
-
Clone Multiball (second mini-wizard)
The reward for clearing the harder second tier of Battles that unlocks after Sauron — winning all three lights it at the Scoop. Four shots light blue and carry a hurry-up starting at 10M; every blue shot you make resets the value to full and shuts that shot off until a different one relights it.
Reward: Battle-side mini-wizard multiball; completing it counts toward the final wizard
-
Giant-Dinosaur Mini-Wizard (Quest chain payoff)
The Quest-side mini-wizard: win both Quests (each qualified by feeding the chimichanga truck) and play Sauron Multiball, and the oversized dinosaur lights at the Scoop. Build the jackpot on the flashing blue shots, bash the Lil' Deadpool target while his weak spot is exposed, then finish him at the Scoop.
Reward: Quest-side mini-wizard; completing it counts toward the final wizard
-
Four X-Men wait on four different shots, and each one bends a battle a different way - more health, double points, double damage, or a supercharged feature. Bank the ones you want before you ever step into the ring, because the right pairing turns a grind into a rout.
Reward: Longer, harder-hitting, or higher-scoring battles depending on which allies you bring in
